He Gets The Gospel Across With His Music
(Original title of interview in swedish)=Han missionerar genom sin musik. (Translation from original text in Swedish with additional text for better clarification in English)

In March or April, just months after he released the album Linin 'Track, the next album of Christian-Charles de Plicque: "Dying to Live!" "Linin 'track was completely different than what I have done before"
, he says. "It was inspired by forty blues album and we recorded it for our own pleasure over a period of five years. But someone heard it and thought we should put all those songs together to make an actual cd."
But Dying to Live! will be recognizable from de Plicque's work earlier.will be recognizable from de Plicque's work earlier. "-You could call it r&b, but not the r&b young people today are talking about but it was played in the sixties".
Christian-Charles de Plicque, he is called "Risto-Kalle" (which is the actually Finnish translation of his French names). His Finnish-speaking friends have nicknamed him this over 20 years ago. But he is called: "Crille" by his Finnish Swedish-speaking friends. de Plicque was born of French parents in Dallas Texas 1948. Even as a child he loved music and began playing in bands with his childhood friend, the late great blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan.
"We were pretty odd, he was white and came from a poor home, while I was black and came from a wealthy home. Then it was much rock n roll that mattered back in those days. But really it's the blues that I grew up with...."
Not Yet a Missionary
Not Yet a Missionary Actually, Christian-Charles de Plicque is a missionary. But in Finland, we are used to sendinh missionaries to Africa. A black man being a missionary and coming to live and work in Finland did not fit into the Finns' view of the world.
"When I went to Europe in 1979, I had no idea that I would eventually end up in Kokkola" he says. Then I went to the leaders of my home church in Dallas, I wanted only to have confirmation from them that they too had heard from God about me going to the Mission Field. I got that confirmation, and the promise that they would pray for me."
Left Dallas with only 50 dollars in my pocket
From the beginning he believed that God would support him. With 50 dollars in his pocket and a one-way ticket to London, he left on his Missions voyage.
"Since then I have lived in the belief that God provides me with what I need. It has not been easy, particularly for the flesh to deal with. But each month, somehow, to this day, the missionary support comes. I do not usually know where the support comes from, but over 40 years, it comes"....
Ater barely a year in London, he reached his goal, Paris France. A little later, he participated in a seminar outside of Amsterdam, where Christian artists gave workshops, ministered in concerts and had the opportunity to present themselves to major American Christian record labels that were searching for new european artists.
- While I sang to it seems like 2000 people, I began began to hear a voice in my head, repeating exactly the words that I was singing. The Holy Spirit was speaking to me in this way. The feeling was so overwhelming that I actually had to stop singing when I begin to profusely cry. "Not here Lord, on the stage in front of all of these people I thought, but when I dared look up, I saw that the Holy Spirit did something in the crowd, some weeping, others prayed for each other...."
Afterwards a Finnish journalist approached me as I was trying to compose myself again. He said that: "we need men like you in Finland"
. "Well, I thought, what kind of men DO you have in Finland?!"

Not Here To Entertain
Not Here To Entertain The journalist arranged an invitation to a church, in the city of Turku, for de Plicque to preach in 1981. Afterwards, over the years, the missions visits became more frequent, and in 1987 he officially moved form France to Finland and is now an official resident of the country.
Afterwards, over the years, the missions visits became more frequent, and in 1987 he officially moved form France to Finland and is now an official resident of the country. Christian-Charles moved from Tampere to Karleby (Kokkola in finnish) in 1994 and was involved as a freelance evangelist/youth worker in the Kokkola Swedish-speaking church.
"I have a dream to reach youth and adults", he says. "When I minster in song, I strive to reach out to people in the world, and not just to Christians alone. I do not want to entertain."
I do not want to entertain." Therefore thank him often 'yes' to sing at jazz and blues festivals. Even where he sings songs with Christian messages.
But most of the listening audience is not always listening so closely to the lyrics, as they are in english. But the talks backstage when he has a chance to share a bit with those that come: "I have seen many come to Jesus and seeds of faith planted"
, he says.
Black guy from Kokkola
A few years ago he received an email from South Korea where he was invited to perform at a festival. The organizers wanted him after listening to the music on his website.
"I asked them to stop broadcasting bother me with their constant e-mails, because I thought it was a joke. But their correspondance to me was in earnest. "
To make a long story short they sent a First Class plane ticket and met me with the limousine of all things, at the airport. The festival's attendance during that week was some estimated 500 000 listeners. I wondered who was really the main artist on such a high class event."
When he finally arrived in South Korea, it was only then he found out that the main ministering artist was in fact,Christian-Charles de Plicque.
"Then I got nervous, it was a total surprise to me. There were so many many truly great artists and groups there from that country. People who had gold and platinum cds, etc...... I thought I would just sing a few songs, but I was told I had 90 minutes in which I was free to minister on stage. Who am I, I'm just a black guy from Kokkola. But it went well and I have visited Korea several times since then."
(Truly God does move in mysterious ways...)
On the walls of Christian-Charles de Plicques home in Karleby/Kokkola, are memories from a long musical career. Since 1966 he he made some thirty recordings.

Men månad kommer pengarna in.

Black guy from Kokkola

All proceeds from the eventual sales of the cd choral recording of this song goes to assist with Finnish missions outreach in Haiti.
1st Verse: To prepare for tomorrow, we must begin today He'll erase the pain and sorrow, He wipes the tears away... There's no changing yesterday, but we do have hope day We lift our voices to the sky, we lift our hands and pray!
2nd Verse: Father we are in Your hands, You see our broken earth... Father, You understand, You see each death and birth This world is not our resting place, but for now we call it home The mountains have been lowered, and the streets are where we roam.
2. säkeistö Isä me olemme sinun käsissäsi, Sinä näet särkyneen maamme... Isä, Sinä ymmärrät, Sinä näet jokaisen kuoleman ja syntymän Tämä maailma ei ole lepopaikkamme, mutta nyt me kutsumme sitä kodiksemme Vuoret ovat mataloituneet ja me vaellamme kaduilla
3rd Verse: It seems we're roamin' to and fro', with rocks beneath our feet Our familys' gone, our friends are lost, defeat upon defeat... Yet we hear Your constant voice, Your Words' forever true You lead us on each passing day, and You will see us through!
3. säkeistö Tuntuu että vaellamme edestakaisin, kivet jalkojemme alla Perheemme on hävinnyt, ystävämme kadonneet, tappio tappion jälkeen... Kuitenkin me kuulemme jatkuvasti äänesi, Sinun sanasi ovat ikuisesti tosia Sinä johdatat meitä jokaisena päivänä ja viet meidät perille!
Chorus: Our feet are set on solid ground! That solid ground is You! We won't give up, though times are tough Our faith will guide us through!
Kertosäe: Jalkamme ovat vakaalla maalla! Tuo vakaa maa olet Sinä! Me emme anna periksi vaikka ajat ovat kovia Uskomme johdattaa meidät läpi!
4th Bad times don't last always, The sun is sure to shine! The winds of sorrow come and go, But You are always mine Always mine and we are Yours, our lives are in Your hands Whatever this world sends our way, On Your Word will we stand!
4. säkeistö Huonot ajat eivät kestä ikuisesti, aurinko tulee paistamaan varmasti! Surut tulevat ja menevät, mutta Sinä olet ikuisesti minun Ikuisesti minun ja me olemme Sinun, elämämme ovat Sinun käsissäsi Mitä tahansa maailmassa kohtaammekaan, Sinun sanasi varassa me kestämme!
5th Verse: It's not our nature to give up, we are strong because of You We stand vic-to-ri-ous, in all we must go through Though the earth may rock and roll, we are fixed on solid ground for that solid ground is You, and You are where we're bound!
5. säkeistö Ei ole luonteemme mukaista antaa periksi, me olemme vahvoja Sinussa Olemme voitokkaita kaikessa minkä läpi joudumme kulkemaan Vaikka maa järkkyisi, me olemme vakaalla pohjalla sillä tuo vakaa pohja olet Sinä ja Sinun luoksesi me matkaamme!
