Oven glazed baked Chicken Wings and Legs with Coca Cola and Heinz Ketchup!

4 May

(Crazy eh?) But wow! It is so delicious!

I saw this recipe in a finnish mag recently and was surprised as it is really spicy and so unlike the food we normally eat here. So I thought: “Hey! I am a Texas boy and I love anything spicy and hot!”

The recipe is Chicken wings and legs, with Heinz Ketchup and COCA COLA! YES! Sounds crazy eh? Of course you can use chicken breasts as well…

  1. You season them with black pepper and salt. I use this American Lawry Seasoning Salt (Divine stuff!)… (My mom used it with every kind of meat it seems!)
  2. Then you flour the chicken and lightly brown it in oil on the stove.
  3. Transfer the meat to an oven dish.
  4. Pour Ketchup and Coke mixture on the meat and bake them in the oven for 45 minutes.

You would not believe how good this is and so tender! The meat just falls off the bones!

This recipe is from Barbados I come to find! It certainly is easy enough for even non-cooks to prepare.

  • 4 lbs chicken, cut up into serving sized pieces
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • salt & pepper

Ingredients for us hip Scandinavians and Central Europeans!

  • 1,8 kg chicken
  • 235 ml Coca-Cola
  • 237 ml ketchup
  • salt & pepper

  1. Mix together the Coca Cola & ketchup in a bowl. Place the chicken pieces in a buttered baking dish. Pour the sauce over the chicken, then sprinkle with salt & pepper
  2. Bake in a preheated 200c oven for about an hour uncovered, until the chicken is tender and has a nice glaze.
