Á Gospelhátíðinni í Hafnarfirði sl. júní kom óvæntur gestur til Íslands sem spilaði síðastur á formlegum afmælistónleikum ABC við mikinn fögnuð viðstaddra. Þessi maður þótti mjög sérstakur í alla staði og fólk laðaðist af tónlist hans en einnig karakter og gleðinni sem hann gaf frá sér til annarra. Allir þeir tónlistarmenn sem hlustuðu á Christian gáfu honum 5 stjörnur af 5 mögulegum, þetta var jú engu líkt!.

Tónlist hans mætti flokka undir Black Gospel en það sem gerir tónlistina svona skemmtilega er það að Christian er ekki bara einstaklega góður söngvari og lagasmiður heldur er hann greinilega að lifa því sem hann er að syngja um. Textarnir í lögum hans eru hnitmiðaðir og beinskeittir, en samt fullir af gleði og fjöri. Einnig nær Christian með framkomu sinni svo sannarlega til fólks.

Christian Charles ólst upp með blúsmeistaranum Steve Ray Vougham og er töluvert fjallað um þeirra samskipti í ævisögu Steve Ray. Eftir tónleika hefur Christian mjög gaman að því að spjalla við áheyrendur og heldur hann uppi stemningu með gleði, kímni um sjálfan sig en samt er hann fullur af auðmýkt og miskunnsemi.

Christian Charles hefur nú ákveðið að leggja hátíðarhöldurum lið með því að koma til landsins í annað sinn og í þetta sinn tekur hann með sér einn færasta gospel píanóleikara Finnlands Jouko Kantola. Jouko er píanókennari sem hefur lokið mastersgráðu í sinni sérgrein. Þeir munu koma saman og halda tónleika til styrktar Gospeldögum, sem ætla að halda nokkra tónleika í vetur til að efla og styrkja starfsemi sína og til að ná endum saman eftir hátíðina fyrr í sumar.

Verða tónleikarnir haldnir í Víðistaðakirkju þann 20. September kl. 20:30 og verða miðar seldir við innganginn, Kirkjuhúsinu á Laugarvegi, bókaversluninni Jötu og hjá bókakaffihúsinu Glætunni Aðalstræti. Í hléi er glæsilegt köku og kaffihlaðborð. Takmarkað framboð er af miðum þannig að betra er að tryggja sér sæti í tíma segir tónleikahaldari.

He has been more than a blessing and has taken me all over this country ministering the Gospel.
